Hi all-

Just an update on the collection.  Healing Newtown (the organization that runs arts related events in relation to 12/14) informed me that after hanging in Newtown, the collection is on loan to the CT Commission for Children and is currently being displayed in Chicago!

Hi all!

I have been in contact with Leslie Gunn, the art teacher at Sandy Hook, and our art is currently in the process of being brought into the school. I’m expecting pictures when they’re done. c:

Best,

Jensine

Here are some photos from delivering the art works to Connecticut—

The 64 (!) pieces in the collection from this initiative is now a part of the Healing Newtown Through the Arts program.  There it will be in displays rotating throughout the new elementary school, the town’s library and Board of Educators, as well as this incredible Arts Space, which hosts arts-based activities in order to foster healing through creativity and community.

Pictured are John Vouros from the Newtown Board of Education and Kate Katcher, artistic director of Stray Kats Theatre Company in Sandy Hook.

The staff was thrilled to receive the artwork and was well impressed by the talent and generosity of the creators.

I am currently discussing holding a reception for the artists and their works and, and will post on this page should it come to fruition.

Thank you again for being a part of something bigger!

The last batch of artwork!

A painting/digital piece from Christina Havemeyer, a silkscreen print from multitalented designer Kelly Shami, a piece from Peter Russo, a print from You Byun, a drawing from C. Erickson, a beautiful deer from illustrator Naomi Butterfield, a painted table from Girlie Gagucas, a painting from David Ohlerking, a watercolor from Portland writer Mac Reid, and a gouache painting from cartoonist Lindsey Richter.

We also received gorgeous paintings from Will Patterson and Nina Franzen, as well as a collage from Sarah Sandbach and a print from Gant Powell.  Because they were received so close to the drop off time, I was not able to photograph them individually.  Thank you so much regardless!  If any of you  have a photograph or scan of your donation and would like it posted,  please let me know.

The town of Newtown and myself thank you all for your generous contributions!

Just a few more to go and the art is just about all here!
